Project Overview

The Student Invention Summit 2018 was a world summit on Invention for Social Good, held in March 2018 in Adelaide Australia, with the goal of inspiring the next generation of change-makers to address global challenges. The summit featured Nobel Peace Prize Winner Professor Muhammad Yunus as the keynote speaker, alongside a range of guest speakers from diverse industries, all focused on how innovation can drive social and business impact.

My Work

  • Event Organization: Led the organization and logistics for the event, coordinating with speakers, volunteers, and sponsors to ensure a smooth execution of the summit.

  • Creative Marketing: Developed and implemented a guerrilla marketing strategy, designing posters, producing a promotional video, and leveraging social media to increase visibility. Collaborated with university clubs to directly promote the event to students.

  • Website Design: Created a companion website for event registration, pre-event marketing, and post-event content sharing. The site served as a central hub for attendees to access information, keynote speeches, and photos after the event.

Outcome

  • The summit was a great success, attracting 161 attendees and featuring over 10 guest speakers. It included a hands-on business model canvas workshop for students, making the event both inspirational and practical.

  • The event received strong engagement and positive feedback, cementing its impact on student attendees eager to pursue social innovation.

Learnings

  • Organising the summit emphasised the importance of collaboration between diverse groups, including students, professionals, and industry leaders, to drive social change.

  • The project reinforced the value of creative marketing in generating interest and driving attendance for large-scale events, especially within educational contexts.

  • Managing both the digital and physical aspects of the event deepened my understanding of holistic event management and how to engage audiences through multiple channels.
