Project Overview
The Stay in the Game Challenge was a statewide video game competition promoting physical fitness and social connection among older people. Funded under the South Australian Government's Wellbeing Strategy and managed by ACH Group, the project supported the organisation’s “Good Lives for Older People” philosophy.
My Work
Research & Co-Design: Facilitated research and co-design consultations with over 50 older participants, exercise physiologists, and stakeholders. Conducted surveys with 150 older people to shape the gaming challenge framework.
Platform Development: Designed and managed an accessible online platform, conducting usability testing with older users to ensure ease of use.
Partnership Engagement: Coordinated with government, community, and business partners to support participation.
Event Coordination: Led both online and in-person "Arcade" events, engaging participants in gaming activities.
Marketing & Outreach: Collaborated on a successful marketing campaign (TV, newspaper, social media) reaching over 1 million views.
Outcome
300+ older South Australians participated in the challenge.
The initiative successfully promoted physical activity and social engagement through gaming, with overwhelmingly positive feedback.
The project highlighted the importance of accessible design and user-focused experiences for older adults, deepening my passion for serious games that promote health and wellbeing.
